favourite images from my past week’s viewings…
From Wes Anderson’s The Darjeeling Limited. Not sure how I missed noticing the armed boy in the corner on my four previous viewings of the film but I caught it this time and it made quite the impression. As Brody’s character prays in India, his wife is due to give birth to a boy in several weeks and later in the film he will fail to save another young boy’s life.
From Michael Cimino’s Heaven’s Gate. In the film that killed Hollywood as it once was known, Jeff Bridges & Isabelle Huppert frolic whilst rollerskating. Pictured below are the actors 30 years later (in Tron: Legacy and White Material respectively), now universes; technologies; dimensions apart.
From Gary Trousdale & Kirk Wise’s Beauty & the Beast. My favourite “Disney” film. As a still this doesn’t work as well as I had hoped but as part of a sequence I was struck by how defined the glowing title couple are as they dance, while everyone gathers in a circle to watch, eerily faceless.
